BACKGROUND & COURSE OVERVIEW:

Managers are always making decisions. All the decisions have financial implication that eventually affects the viability of a project. Each decision a manager makes is either affects revenue or cost of the organization. Therefore, it is important to have an idea on the affects of decisions; like investment, revenue, cost, benefit, etc.

Textile Today and TRANSFORM is offering a certificate course on “Cost & Finance Management Aspects for Non-Finance Managers” that would create financially literate Non-Finance people. This course is designed to give the participants an introduction to costing, finance and business finance so they can contribute to the success of their business. In general, the course seeks to enable participants to explain and apply the basic principles, tools, and techniques of costing and financial management. Specifically, the course will explain the fundamentals of costing, finance, goals of finance managers, analysis of financial statements, valuation of securities, forecasting of cash, managing working capital, investment decision, financing decision, Risk/Beta; etc.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

This is the ideal course for managers and above who don’t have any finance/accounting qualification or background but who nonetheless need to make decision using costing and financial information. Specifically, this course is designed for spinning/composite textiles/garments professionals and decision makers.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Prospective candidates must fulfill the following criteria for admission:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline;
  • Minimum 5 (Five) years of work experience with reputed organization (work experience can be relaxed for exceptional candidates)

Every manager needs to understand finance if she/he is to play an active role in organization to achieve the organization’s objectives. However, not every manager needs the same level of skill and understanding as specialist finance managers.

COURSE FEES:

Eligible candidates will have to pay total Tk. 9,900 as course fees.

CLASS SCHEDULE:

The course will be taught over twelve hours ( 9 AM-12 PM & 2 PM- 5 PM). A total of 4 classes will be held and duration for each class will be 2 hours, followed by 4 (Four) one-hour test. Classes will be held at Textile Today premises.

First Friday would be on costing related issues and the 2nd Friday would be on Finance.

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION:

The course assessment will be done through individual and group assignments, case studies and examinations. On successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded a certificate.

The resource persons for the program is Mr. Abdul Wadud. He did his B. Com (Hons.) in Finance & Banking and M. Com in Finance from Dhaka University. He also had his MBA from IBA, Dhaka University. He earned his Diploma in Cotton from Rhodes College, Memphis USA. He started his career in 1997 with Square and latter on worked in different responsible and challenging positions in Unifill Group, SIM Group, Badsha Group, Viyellatex Group, and Anwar Group of Industries (AGI). Currently, he is a shareholder director of Spintech Associates Ltd. and CEO of his own consultancy firm for spinning TRANSFORM.
