Background:

The merchandising process in Bangladesh traditionally involved three key stakeholders: brands and their liaison offices, trade offices or buying houses, and apparel manufacturers. As the industry has matured, a significant shift in responsibilities has been observed. When the industry was in its early stages, trade offices and brands primarily managed functions such as quality, production planning, sample development, and R&D due to a lack of qualified professionals at the manufacturer level.

As manufacturers have grown more experienced and capable, they have increasingly taken on these responsibilities. Brands now rely on manufacturers for direct data collection, leading to an evolved role for trade houses. This transition has led to manufacturers focusing on their product development, offering samples, and maintaining strict quality controls.

This course is designed to prepare the factory professionals capable of handling the transformational challenges due to shifting Dynamics in Merchandising.
