Introduction

In readymade garments sector, there are different types of merchandising profiles which are meant to perform different types of functions all together at different stages. Merchandising is a function of multiple activities performed by a person which are either parallel or interconnected. Some of them are interdependent and others are independent of each other. Merchandising involves planning and execution of the export order with the right place, at the right time, in the right quantities, at the right price.

The term ‘Merchandising’ has always been a magic word and hot pick of the cake in the field of apparel and fashion industry. It involves making execution plans, understanding the buyers need regarding quality and cost, follow up of the running order, effective communication with buyer. Most of the persons who want to pursue a career in the apparel field want to become a merchandiser. What makes this so much attractive and important is—reputation, responsibility and career growth. So, in-depth knowledge, as well as some key skills, is much required for a merchandiser to succeed in his/her career.

Foundation Course on Factory Skills Development is the first ever Industry Orientation program organized by Textile Today. ‘Merchandising’ is one of the important areas under this Factory Skills Development program where experienced industry experts will provide and share the taste of industry during the course of their study itself, which will give our trainees a real practical exposure – not just a course. Understanding of qualities, Testing, AQL & Inspection
